The Background H. Dawn Patrick-Wout, an interior designer and professionally trained psychotherapist is driven by the knowledge that all people are transformed when their exterior environments match their inner selves. Her belief is that well designed spaces improve one’s lifestyle, provide a sense of nurturance and comfort, and afford one the ability to be self-actualized. Therefore, in an effort to impact future generations, in 1996, Mrs. Patrick-Wout conceived the non-profit organization, Happy Places = Happy Faces (HP=HF). The Vision Happy Places = Happy Faces envisions a world in which all people exercise their right to live and work in beautiful spaces; a world where everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or economic status enjoy the peace that comes with having an aesthetically beautiful and functional space. We strive to empower the next generation with the pride and confidence to not only create positive changes in their own space but to also be a positive force in their communities and in the world. Our Mission Happy Places = Happy Faces educates children, using interior design concepts as a tool to inspire, excite and empower future generations with the knowledge that they are the catalyst for positive change in themselves and the environment. Our Goals Happy Places = Happy Faces brings together community leaders, educators, design professionals and parents to help children revitalize their work and play areas through our TORCH Program. This program is designed to enhance the child’s confidence, workmanship, motivation to succeed and interpersonal skills.
